About Me
I grew up on the lush coast of Washington state. The natural beauty of the area was an early inspiration to me for design. Many buildings in Washington are inspired deeply by the landscape and are built to harmoniously work with the surrounding environment. At the time, I was unaware of the complexity of the art of interior design, but it planted a seed in me where I started to notice details and appreciate the designs.
In 2016, my family and I lived and travelled in an RV across the nation, most notably the southwest and southeast regions before settling in Wisconsin. This experience furthered the exploration of how different geographic regions, cultures and needs influence design. I always love learning and getting to know new people and cultures. This mindset guides my process.
Empathetic research and knowledge are key to successful projects. I make specialty designs tailored to the specific physical, cultural, and aesthetic needs of clients. Deep research and putting myself in others’ shoes is important to develop a concept that guides all aspects of my designs. Whether that is ADA compliance for an aging-in-place home or a prayer room or using local materials to bring the outside in, I always want my buildings to feel personal. I also love integrating sustainable designs and using nature as an inspiration, from recycled and low VOC materials to high performance insulation and renewable energy and more. Aesthetically, I specialize in mixing natural and rustic elements with clean modern lines, creating spaces that feel contemporary while still feeling cozy and grounded.
On the technical side of things, I have practiced following IBC and ADA codes for safe, compliant buildings, as well as creating construction documents for implementation. I also enjoy working with other people, as I think great designs can come from collaboration and exchanging of ideas, and even disagreement that leads to innovation.
All in all, I love exchanging ideas, learning new things, getting to know my clients, and creating custom designs tailored to their specific needs, with a focus on integrating nature, landscapes, and sustainability.
